Drummond bidding to maintain h
CITY golfer Scott Drummond will head into next week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews in confident mood after again finishing in the money at the Austrian Golf Open.
The city-based European Tour star ended the tournament at Fontana Golf Club in Vienna in joint-26th place after shooting an eight under total of 276 for his four rounds.
As a result of his efforts, which saw him record rounds of 64, 68,72 and 72, Drummond collected Pounds 8,680.
It was the third successive European Tour event in which he had pocketed some money after claiming a tie for 56th position in the Omega European Masters and a share of 15th place in the Mercedes- Benz Championship.
Those two displays earned Drummond Pounds 5,800 and Pounds 25,377, respectively.
The 35-year-old will now make his way to Scotland hoping to finish in the money again at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, which carries a prize-fund of just over Pounds 3million.
The event, which starts next Thursday and Bell & Ross Replica concludes on Sunday, October 4, will see Drummond up against some of the world’s top golfers.
Joining Drummond, who turned professional in 1996 with a plus two handicap, will be England duo Paul Casey and Lee Westwood, Ireland’s Padraig Harrington, South Africa’s Ernie Els and former Elfordleigh professional Miles Tunnicliff.
